The Switchboard or The Intercom?

Evey Child of God is a unique individual. We are not all equiped the same or fitted with the same Spiritual Gifts, or levels of knowledge. But in God's wonderful plan this is perfect.

Not all of us are meant to be Pastors of churches. Yes, we can learn the basics and perhaps even perform the steps. However, if being a Pastor is not you true calling, you will fail. We have all seen Pastors that truely fill their calling, and many more that manage to just get by. What a shame that we sometimes think we must be something that we really were never meant to be.

I mention this because for the same reason, we are not all meant to be mighty in prayer. Yes, you need to pray, and know how to pray effectively and with power, but being an intesessor or healor, or excercist, just may not be on your path. Find who you are and fill that position completely. I do not come close to filling the shoes of my Earthly Father. However, I fill my own shoes perfectly, and that is fine.

The Story

In heaven their is a giagantic telephone switchboard. This switchboard is manned by Angels of The Lord every second of every day. Now there are millions of little lights on this switchboard, each indicating a single individual person here on Earth.

Now I know you are finding this hard to believe, switchboards in Heaven in 1998? I even hear you saying that God is so great and Powerful He don't need a switchboard, and you are right. But God don't want no computers in Heaven. According to sources in the know, that is one reason they call it Heaven in the first place. I have even heard about another reason, rumors about one person associated with software down here, but that is another story.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, when a person prays, their little light comes to life and an Angel is supposed to complete the connection to the Throne Room. Now if you can imagine hundreds or perhaps thousands of lights flickering all the time on this board then you may be able to understand the difficulty in attempting to connect all these requests to the Throne Room in time.

Now, some people just get tired of waiting and hang up. Others come through as one-ringers and their light flickers on then off so fast the poor Angel never even had a chance. Now I tell you this so you will understand what ya gotta go through to get a good connection. It flat aint easy. But there is hope.

Now of course The Lord is always checking things out at the switchboard. Specially when things seem a little slow. Now while He is checking out the board, he is made aware of the fact that there is this one light over here that seems to be lit so many times a day that the socket is wearing out from plugging in the jumper and unpluging the jumper each time a connection is made then released. So The Lord checks out who the light belongs to and tells the angel to take that person off the switchboard and put him, or her! (whew! Almost blew it there) on one of the hot lines, sometimes called the red phone.

Now things go along fairly well, but The Lord begins to notice that that red phone seems to be just a ringing all the time. So He checks into the matter. While doing so, He sees that here is a person who is always praying for something. They pray for their boss at work, they pray for theit kids teacher at school, they even pray for the homeless and for world peace. Always finding some excuse to talk to the Lord.

So The Lord has the phone moved into His office, so the angels can do their work a little better and He answers this one Himself.

Now, you decide. Which person is going to get a faster responce? The person on the switchboard, who prays once in a while, or the person on the red phone who is always praying?

Yeah, I sorta think so too. Now I don't know this to actually be a fact, but I have heard rumors to the effect that it could be true. But Our Lord has a whole warehouse of red phones just sitten there waiting for the time they will be needed. Seems that the past few decades there have not been a lot of people down here that pray enough to get moved off the switchboard.

Now I can hear it now. People asking well what happens when a lot of people start getting the red phones? Awe, come on, you know you were going to ask that weren't you? Well, seems there is one step better than the phone. That one though is a might tougher to get ahold of, but I will tell you about it anyway.

Remember back a couple thousand years ago? Back when Jesus was here? Well it seems that He, and it's rumored that a couple others did too, but He was on an Intercom. Think about it. No ringing and waiting for an answer. Just instant two way communication. Sounds like a real relationship to me!

Now I don't know about you, like I said before we are all different and many of us have other missions to complete. But I would sorta like to be on one of them intercoms myself.

Even if you know you have a different calling to do than to "pray always", wouldn't you rather be on that red phone? Tempting huh?

Now I hope you know that Heaven is not quite like I just described it here. I also hope you know that prayer don't really depend on a switchboard. However, the message behind this story is true. You have every right to make choices. Pray seldom, pray daily, pray often, or pray always. Your answer will depend on whether you are on the switchboard, , , , or the Intercom.
