The Haitian Coalition of Central Florida
How Did They Begin?

The Haitian Coalition began in the hearts and minds of a handful of central Florida residents who had a concern for the growing need in the Haitian community. The group started meeting on a regular basis to develop strategies to address the challenges facing our Haitian neighbors. The Coalition became a non-profit corporation in November of 1996 and received tax exempt status in March of 1997.

What is Their Mission?

The Haitian Coalition of Central Florida, Inc. is a voice for the Haitian community and a resource for economic, religious, and health care opportunities, creating a more productive and healthy community for all. The Coalition seeks to create greater access to these opportunities by removing the language, information, and bureaucratic obstacles that hinder the assimilation of Haitians into the central Florida community.

What is Their Vision?

The Coalition exists to promote communities in which Haitian residents live and worship together as families, in harmony with residents of other cultures, and with adequate resources to care for themselves and to care for others in need.

How can you help?

The Haitian Coalition is truly a collaborative effort. Our volunteer staff is comprised of members of the Haitian community as well as people from the broader central Florida community. We are partnering with other organizations to avoid duplication and maximize our efforts. The more hands that are involved, the more lives that will be touched.

We also need individuals, congregations, organizations and businesses who will support our work with financial donations, either a one-time donation or on a monthly basis. All gifts are tax-deductible and the vast majority of donations go directly to services. We have a modest office and a mostly volunteer staff. Your gifts will go to help those in need.
